I spotted Ted with his excitable Border Collies feeding a drove of noisy pigs on a cold January morning. As I passed, the low winter sunlight offered a perfect backdrop, and I asked if he’d mind if I took a few photos of them all at work. As we talked about photography, films, collies and the price of milk, I plucked up the courage to ask if I could take a few portrait shots of him with his dogs. He was so obliging, and they all were the perfect models for this rather ad-hoc portrait session.
